“In A Sense, I Am Lonely. I Have Very Few Friends In Every Generation.”

A few years ago, I had an encounter with the Lord in which He said to me, "In a sense, I am lonely. I have very few friends in every generation."
I was shaken when I heard that.
"How?!" I asked. "All these people that are made in Your image? How can YOU be lonely?"
"Yes," He replied. "I can be, because I have given man free will. This means that every person gets to relate with Me at the level they choose.
Of those that believe that I exist, majority are at the very basic level where they only come to Me for what I can give to them. Their prayers are filled with "Give me this," and "Give me that."
Which is okay, because they are My children and I delight in doing good things and giving good gifts to My children. But because that's all they seek after, that's what they are limited to."
The second group has gone a step further. They are not just content to have their needs met, and they do not see Me merely as an errand boy who makes things happen around them.
These are zealous to serve Me. They hunger for My power, gifts and supernatural abilities. But they stop their pursuit at the level of servants.
Many of these become content when I begin to use them. They no longer press into My secret chambers. Their focus becomes ministry. But I long for so much more!
However, a few people in every generation refuse to settle. When they were children, they sought me for their own needs.
When they tasted My goodness, they pressed in for more. They went into a place where I began to use them to help other people.
When they tasted My goodness at that level, they refused to settle. They chose to continue climbing the mountain from peak to peak.
Now all they want is intimate friendship with Me. Yes, they still need Me to meet their needs, and yes, they still desire to serve Me.
But their hearts have refused to settle there. They want ME as a Person. They hunger for RELATIONSHIP with Me. They desire intimate friendship with Me.
Nothing else can satisfy these ones.
Nothing else excites these ones.
I am the Pearl, the Jewel they are seeking.
The more they find Me, the more they seek Me.
These are My friends.
They don't seek Me merely for what I can do for them or give them. They want Me as a Person.
Of course, they end up getting everything else available in the lower peaks. But their greatest reward is that they get to know Me in a way that others do not.
They know My HEART. They know My character, intentions, plans, purposes, agenda, likes, dislikes, preference, not from hearing it from others but from personal revelation of Me.
They know how to approach, relate and respond to Me, not merely from being taught by others, but because they have personal acquaintance with Me.
These are the ones I hang out with when I just want to talk. Or when I just want to spend time with someone without necessarily saying anything.
Their hearts and homes are like the home of Lazarus, Mary and Martha in Bethany, where I loved to recline, not necessarily for ministry but just to be with them as My friends.
It is time to shift dimensions. Seek ME. Seek My friendship and My presence. Everything else will be added to you as needed. Let Me now be your ONLY THING. I long for your friendship."

I needed to hear this today. Its been sooo very difficult for a long time honestly asked God if I was the toxic one and just didn't realize it so I could repent
this is so beautiful and such a testimony to the Lord's healing power and sanctification through our suffering. Much of my walk with Christ is similar to yours.
