Searching for Peace

By Greg Laurie

“‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.’”

—Matthew 5:9

Albert Einstein said, “What terrifies us is not the explosive force of the atomic bomb but the power of the wickedness of the human heart.”

Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9 NKJV). We of course want peace in the world. Yet neither this verse nor the Bible itself teaches peace at any cost or peace by appeasement.

Some well-meaning people protest for peace, saying that all war is bad. Sometimes they will cite a Scripture verse or two to support their case. But that is not what Jesus was referring to in the above verse. The Bible teaches that there is a time for peace, and yes, there is also a time for war (see Ecclesiastes 3:8).

Yet it’s sad how much war this world has known.

According to some estimates, in the last 4,000 years there have been only less than 300 years without a major war. It seems that peace is merely a glorious moment in history when everyone pauses to reload.

There’s a right and wrong way to obtain peace. We can experience peace, but not through human means.

James asks, “Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?” (James 4:1 NKJV). He goes on to say, “You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask” (verse 2 NKJV).

So what should we do? How can we resolve this dilemma? We should seek to bring the Prince of Peace to others. Romans 10:15 says, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” (NKJV).

As people who have met God and experienced His mercy, we should commit our lives to telling others about Him. Then we will be true peacemakers.

...."This book of the law [the Word of God] shall not depart from [always be in] your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful [take heed] to do according to all that is written in it; for THEN you will make your way prosperous, and THEN you will have success".... Joshua 1:8 NASB

God does not choose people because of their ability, but because of their availability. ...."But Jesus said to him, "No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God".... Luke 9:62 NASB

"The Gift of Your Dear Servant - Ruth Ward Heflin"

By Steve Porter

A True Vessel of the Lord

If you ever heard Ruth Heflin sing, you know that you were listening to a true worshiper of God. Her voice resonated with beautiful and powerful melodies, ringing with a divine intensity that carried people directly into the presence of God. She led people into spontaneous worship, entreating the Holy Spirit to move in unprecedented ways.

Through her ministry, countless people have experienced God's touch and been awakened to His glory realm. Ruth was indeed a true vessel for the Lord, with a deep and abiding faith in His power to transform the lives of His children. She was a descendant of Jonathan Edwards, one of the most influential revivalists of the 18th century.

As a Christian minister, Ruth Ward Heflin dedicated nearly 40 years of her life to serving God and advancing His message to the masses. During those years, she traveled all over the world, spreading the Gospel and reaching out to those in need. Heflin was also one of the founders of Mount Zion Fellowship, an international prayer ministry based in Jerusalem. There she lived for more than 25 years before returning to the US.

Throughout her ministry, Heflin's passion for Israel and prayer was evident at every turn. When Ruth set out to start the prayer ministry in Jerusalem, she had no idea just how much it would impact the lives of people around the world.

Nevertheless, her passion for the nations was clear from the very beginning, as she believed that her heartfelt prayers could do so much more than offer mere words. She had a focus on intercession through praise and worship, and helped to break down barriers between Believers across different religions and cultures, forging new connections while also powerfully reinforcing community bonds.

Over time, Ruth's calling grew even stronger, with a particular emphasis on revival for her homeland in America. She knew that if people could experience the glory realm, it would not only rekindle their faith, but it would inspire others to seek out their own face-to-face encounters with God. With tireless passion and unwavering determination, Ruth poured herself into this vision.

Having lost her brother, Wallace Heflin Jr., in 1996, she returned home and assumed the job as Director of Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle (CPT) in Virginia. With years of experience in ministry, Ruth immediately began working tirelessly to ensure that CPT continued to thrive and serve the Body of Christ. And through it all, Ruth never lost sight of her ultimate goal – to see CPT continue to spread love and hope throughout the land, one person at a time.

The History Behind Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle

At the heart of Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle is a deep faith and abiding love for the Lord. The CPT camp was founded by her parents, Wallace Sr. and Edith, in Ashland, Virginia in the 1950s, and has since become a true oasis for those seeking spiritual renewal. Despite its simple, rustic setting, thousands of people are drawn to this camp, year after year, to attend church services and conferences, and to worship alongside their fellow Believers.

The spirit of devotion that courses through the camp is palpable, filling visitors with a sense of peace and joy as they bask in God's presence. Whether you are a lifelong Believer or someone looking for refreshment, the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle camp is truly a special place – a refuge where you can rest, reconnect with God and be revitalized for your work in the world.

Over the years, the camp has provided a place of healing and rest for those in need. During this time, the camp has operated on a strictly volunteer basis, with no fees for the food or accommodations offered to those seeking refuge.

During the summer of 1999, Ruth said in an interview, "There is a feeling among the nations to come and dine." She believed Ashland was a "watering hole" where the thirsty could come and drink, and then take home with them.

In one service that summer, 70 nations were represented. Ruth was amazed, and said, "The Jewish people feel that when Moses appointed the 70, it was representative of 70 nations. I feel that all of the states have been represented since camp started. It is the Spirit driving people to come. Some have reported seeing visions and having dreams inviting them. Others have shared that God has shown them supernaturally how to come.”

Ruth was skilled at connecting with people from all walks of life, and she quickly became known as a valuable resource for heads of state and other influential leaders around the world. Her powerful Gospel songs, including, "I Ask for the Nations," and "The Wheel Within the Wheel," are still widely sung today, and her best-selling book, "Glory," has been translated into multiple languages.

In addition to her heartfelt devotion to spreading God's Word through music, writing and speaking, Ruth made an impact through her many other publications, including "Revival Glory," "River Glory," "Harvest Glory," "Golden Glory," "Unifying Glory" and "Revelation Glory." Through all of her efforts, Ruth inspired countless people to find deep spiritual growth and revival. Truly, Ruth was a matriarch of Pentecostal faith, and a singer whose songs will continue to uplift and inspire for generations to come.

Ruth Graduates to Heaven

When Ruth Heflin was first diagnosed with cancer, she made a conscious decision to keep her diagnosis private and focus on her recovery while in the hands of God. However, despite Ruth's wishes, it wasn't long before the news spread and many of her supporters heard about her illness. They were determined not to give up hope; instead, they began praying for Ruth's healing. And against all odds, just a little more than two months after undergoing a mastectomy, Ruth stepped back into the pulpit at the opening service of the annual camp meeting. Looking back on that momentous occasion, Ruth said she wanted to preach on opening night in order to give the "old devil a black eye.”

Despite facing incredible adversity and intense suffering, she remained steadfast in her faith and refused to let cancer stop her from spreading love and hope to others. Her story serves as an inspiration to us all.

As she sat in a chair next to the hospital bed in her home, Ruth could feel the peace and joy that emanated from her heart in that moment. She had spent the previous day reflecting on God's incredible power and glory, and that sense of wonder seemed to shine through her as she spoke softly about her faith.

During the next few months, Ruth Heflin continued to pour her heart and soul into her preaching at the camp, despite being confined to a wheelchair. She persisted through this setback to be as passionate and driven as ever, and she refused to let it stop her from spreading the Word of God. Attendees were awed by her unwavering faith and dedication, and they began to report supernatural manifestations occurring during her sermons.

One of the most remarkable moments in Ruth's life came about a week before her death, when she received an inspiring vision of Jesus Himself. As she recounted, Jesus spoke to her directly, asking if she was ready to come home. Ruth told Him about the Pentecostal campground and wondered what would become of it after she passed away. To her astonishment, Jesus told her that everything would be taken care of and reassured her that He would come to take her home soon.

As she lay surrounded by her loved ones, Ruth Heflin felt content and at peace. For years, she had been a pillar of strength to those around her, offering the love and support that only a mother could give. But as she felt her body gradually giving way, it seemed like an answer to the question she had posed just the day before: "Do you hear the angels singing?”

Those gathered around her remembered all the ways that Ruth had touched their lives – how she had listened with compassion, encouraged with kindness and guided with wisdom. True to His word, just eight days later, on September 15, 2000, Ruth passed away peacefully at a hospital in Richmond.

For Ruth, words always came easy. Whether she was composing a song or delivering a speech, her expressive voice and keen sense of language always shone through. And in 1994, she opened the House of Representatives, delivering a moving prayer.

One particularly moving tribute was the flying of the flag over the Capitol complex in Washington, D.C. on the day of Heflin's death, which was the same flag that was displayed during the services. This symbol of respect and reverence was signaling to all present just how deeply she had touched and inspired those around her. With a legacy like this, it is clear that Ruth Heflin will continue to be an inspiration for generations to come.

Ruth may not have had children of her own, but she became a spiritual mother to many during her lifetime. She loved the Lord and imparted that love through Scripture to those who were fortunate enough meet her in person or come across her work.

Many books could be written on Ruth Ward Heflin and how God used this mighty woman to change the world with God's glory. I know there are women who carry the torch and are blazing a trail of glory in the world today, and many of those women are reading this tribute right now!

Closing Prayer

Lord, we are humbled and grateful for the life of Ruth Heflin, who devoted her days to serving You and spreading Your Word. She was an inspiration to all who crossed her path, sharing her faith and encouraging others to draw closer to You, our heavenly Father. Through her words and actions, she showed us the power of living a life of humility and devotion, grounded in deep faith in You.

Lord, let us be inspired by Ruth's example as we seek to follow in her footsteps. May we always be guided by Your will, seeking Your truth with unwavering faith and devotion. We are awed by Your abundance and grace, Lord, knowing that You have blessed us with Ruth as a magnificent guiding light in our lives. Thank You for the gift of this dear servant who touched so many hearts with her humble devotion. Amen.

By Elaine Tavolacci

A well-known prophet once said, "When you realize who you are in Christ, you will realize that you are behaving below your nature and living short of your potential." The Lord is calling His body to rise up and take their authority on this earth. Satan has been trying to put so much oppression on believers that they forgot who they are serving, what they are called to do, and who they were called to be. Although the enemy has placed diabolical assignments against Christians, the Lord says: I have given you dominion, authority and power in My name to stand up against this coercion.

Jesus has called us to release His sovereignty upon this earth in this hour. In the book of Genesis God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." In the book of Luke, Jesus said, "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you."

Too many believers are being misled and don't understand the authority that was given to them. When Jesus walked the earth, everywhere that He went people recognized His authority. Religious leaders were astonished by His teaching. He healed every kind of sickness and disease, leprosy was cleansed and even the dead were raised. Demons would scream out saying that He was the son of God. We have been created in Gods image and called according to His divine purpose and plan.

Jesus has given us the same authority that He had when He walked the earth. It was prophesied in the book of Acts "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." We are supernatural beings living in natural bodies and the Lord wants to reveal His power in us and through us in a mighty way He has given us His name. In the name of Jesus every knee must bow. (submit)

The Lord says, I have given you authority in My name and dominion over all the power of the enemy and nothing by any means shall harm you. Just as Paul shook off the venomous viper that tried to take his life, I have also given you the authority to shake off that viper which comes against you to steal, kill and destroy. The enemies attack will not destroy you. His venom will not kill you. Stand on My Word. The curse causeless shall not come as you rise up in My authority.

The authority that I have released to you cannot be understood with your natural mind. The dominion that I have given to you could not be received with your intellect. Take authority over everything that is coming against your life. Take authority over everything that is attacking your families and ministries. Take authority over everything that is coming against your destiny. Take authority over unrighteousness in your cities, states and nations.

I have placed a rod in your hand and a sword in your mouth, which is My Word. I have given you dominion and power over every situation that you encounter. You have the authority to decree and declare a thing and it shall be established for you. As you speak My word, situations in your life will begin to shift. As you use My authority and speak My name, mountains will move. I have given you authority over all sickness and disease. As you lay hands on the sick, they shall recover.

Whatsoever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. Whatsoever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. I have given you the power to overcome every obstacle that comes against you, and to tear down strongholds using the mighty weapons that I have provided for you. As you use the authority, dominion and power that I have released to you in My name, you will begin to rule and reign on this earth, and My glory will prevail in your life says the Lord.

Matthew 16:17-19

And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Luke 10:19

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Acts 1:8

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

I had the word “enrich” on my heart which means:

1. To supply with abundance.

2. To adorn or decorate. (Collins Dictionary)

I saw the Lord supplying great abundance to His people. Provision was flowing in great measures. The windows of heaven were opening and great abundance flowing especially in the area of finances.

Provision is going to flow for the vision the Lord has given His people. He is taking care of things very well and you will have all that you need to accomplish what the Lord has put on your heart.

He is now putting WHEELS ON DREAMS! Dreams that have been delayed or the people of God have been waiting upon His provision to move forward, it is being released. Once the wheels are put on the dreams, get ready to zoom!! For there is an acceleration in the Spirit and as the people of God are faithful to steward what He has given them, more will be added.

Many are about to birth greater creativity.

Once the doors open for those expressions of new creativity walk through them boldly knowing that He is going to birth a new creative expression of His heart through you. He is going to adorn and enrich you with such creativity that the world will turn its head. Throne room encounters are happening on a greater scale as the Lord releases these creative expressions of His heart, that carry such deep revelation of His love and goodness that monument-us breakthrough is exploding not only in the lives of His people but in the world.

The Gospel message, the love, kindness, the voice and power of God will be released in even more powerful ways through new avenues of creativity that will see an increase in harvest of souls coming into the Kingdom!!

Embrace your creativity! Do not fear! He is putting wheels on dreams!

The same family order that functions in heaven and in godly families on earth is the pattern for the structure and function of all ministry, business, and governmental structures and organizations.

God’s kingdom family order is the heavenly design of all relational governance and administration of authority on Planet Earth. Most strife and wars in the world can be recognized to stem from three major areas of conflict.

The natural human deep thinkers partaking from the tree of knowledge of good and evil have derived theoretical solutions for eliminating stress and wars from these three rudimental areas. After much thinking and discussions, they have determined that the solution in all three areas is to establish ONE WORLD UNIVERSAL THINKING AND UNDERSTANDING.

•One World Religion

•One World Government

•One World Economy

Their reasoning is that if people have freedom to think and understand as they choose, they will never all think the same.

This is the observation of the natural minds of intelligent human beings without God. Therefore, it is understood among them that the only way to bring peace to the world is to control the thoughts and minds of the masses of people by seduction and with force to craft their minds into thinking in one unified channel.

To the natural mind, this solution appears to be the way to a world of peace. As a matter of fact, there is some truth in this dark deception. The truth is that there is one kingdom reality that will truly bring peace in this world.

The massive missing part of the manmade one world order is that it ignores the deeper foundational reality of SPIRIT. There are only TWO MAJOR SPIRIT FORCES that govern in the created world.

The two spirit forces are pictured in the Garden of Eden as the “tree of knowledge of good and evil” and “the tree of LIFE.” The tree of knowledge leads to death, darkness, and eventual destruction. The tree of life brings life and light everlasting now and forever.

One spirit force or the other works to spawn and produce every thought in human beings. The heart of man, which is the spirit, mind, will and emotions of man, is the production center of all that is built or changed in the world.

Every work or change in the world begins in the heart of man as a thought from one spirit force or the other. They are either from God or from Satan, the devil. Mankind without Spirit God is always connected to the darkness of the devil. The spirit of man will always be influenced by one or the other. There is no middle ground. Humanism is man’s way without God and is from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Thoughts become visions that are brought into the world by words, drawings, dreams, music, or illustrations being planted into the world as living and growing thought seeds of action.

A godly business or ministry begins in the heart of a man. God plants a seed of passionate desire in the heart of a man for some need of the people or of the world. A thought or idea from God begins to form in a person to meet that need. The idea becomes a vision and eventually through a growth process becomes a ministry or business meeting the need of mankind or the world around us.

A successful movement, business, or ministry begins as a thought in some human being’s heart from Spirit God.

As we fall in love with God our heart’s desires are to praise and worship Him and to love and serve His people and the world around us. We serve God by serving His people and His world.

We are directed in the Word to do good to all mankind but especially to those of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:10).

With His love, God will flow wisdom and power along with seed patterns or visions into the heart of man to bring forth the plans of God into the world to meet the needs of His people and His world. All great works of God that are carried out by man, work by this process.

The man of God with the vision of God becomes the husband and father of the ministry or business, which was seeded into him by God.

The passion of the vision leads the husband to connect with his “helpmate” or a collective group of helpers that function as the wife/mother or the second-level management of the ministry or business. The workers are the children growing up in the business or ministry.

The father/husband is the entrepreneur or presidential part. The second level management team is the wife/mother part. The father and mother will have many children or workers that are growing and serving in the kingdom ministry or business as a forever part of the family. Servants are the hired or contract workers that are not yet a true part of the permanent family structure.

The God-ordered relational directives for the godly personal family order applies to business, ministry, government, and every organized structure of the kingdom.

God’s order is very different from the Babylonian style of business, ministry, and government of this fallen world.

All the God-given family order presented in Ephesians Chapters 5 and 6 are the same for the kingdom business, ministry, or governmental family order.

Husband to Wife – Unconditional Love

Wife to Husband – Respect and Honor

Husband and Wife – Permanent Marriage

Father to Children – Love and Train – Do Not Provoke

Mother to Children – Love and Nurture

Children to Parents – Obey and Honor

Parents and Children – Lifelong but Changing Relationship

Servants to Husband and wife – Sincere Obedience as to Christ

Husband and Wife to Servants – Non-Threatening and Under God

As we look at the offices of service within the family order of God, keep in mind that every person in God’s family is a direct child of God. And thereby has direct communion with Father God through Christ Jesus as sons and daughters of God and joint heirs with Christ Jesus. Also, remember that these relational family functions always work by love. Each family office member can fulfill their part by being IN LOVE WITH GOD.

In the kingdom, God’s purpose for both ministry and business is the same. The purpose is to meet the needs of the people and the world around us in accordance with the will, guidance, and empowerment of God. The difference between the two is in the type of needs that are met.

Ministry tends to focus more on spiritual needs such as relationship with God, spiritual principles for life and much more. Business tends to focus more on physical or natural needs such as food, shelter, transportation and much more.

There is overlap in meeting needs in ministry, business, and government. Both ministry and business are involved in meeting needs in the areas of wellbeing in both mental, physical and some spiritual needs as well. Both also are active in meeting needs of the soul (mind, will and emotions).

We serve God by serving His people and His created world. The more we serve by taking care of God’s people and the world around us, the more we are given by God, with which we serve.

Being in love with God that is experienced in praising and communing with God in His manifest presence with us, is our source of pure holy love that empowers, motivates, and guides us into abundance of life as sons of God ruling and reigning with Him now on earth.

The love of God in the people causes all these things to work together in bringing forth true kingdom prosperity in righteousness, peace and joy filling the earth with the glory of God.

This is the true One World Government. The kingdom of God is a Spirit King ruling through Spirit beings in redeemed human earthly bodies on earth.

The children of God now coming forth on earth are to become the Sons of God inheriting the earth and all its fullness in the manifest presence of Father God and King Jesus our Lord and Master of all.

The world has been and is now largely ruled by a counterfeit false usurping kingdom of darkness called Babylon in the Bible. The coming of Christ Jesus, Yeshua Messiah manifesting in and among His redeemed purified Sons of God is at hand to remove the false kingdom and fully establish the reality of the kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven.

The Father says today, align the mental traffic in your head to the flow of My thoughts coursing through your heart right this moment. You know you have nothing to fear. You know that My preeminence is finding its way in your life to produce maturity, victory, joy, and overcoming in your day.

So take it as a learning experience. When others are raising their voices in complaining and murmuring, make it your choice to access the secret place of My presence. Open your eyes and see from that secure vantage point what I am going to do to bring you through in first-class style!

No more compromising. No more stifling your song in the night seasons. Allow My song to persist in your life and refuse to allow the opposition of the enemy to tear you down in any way. You are a champion. You are an overcomer. You are not a victim – you are a victor. You don’t HAVE to fight the enemy – you GET to fight the enemy. There is no question whether the enemy is being defeated. The only question is whether you get to lay into him before he is finally dragged, pummeled, and bleeding away from the field of conflict.

So move forward this day, and do not allow intimidation or fear to rob you of this rare moment of putting your foot in the neck of your enemy and trumpeting from the top of your lungs the supremacy of the cross and the manifestation of the throne in your life.

"Reflections Upon Reflections" [of The Father's Heart]

...."You, in Your great compassion, did not forsake them in the wilderness; The pillar of cloud did not leave them by day, to guide them on their way, or the pillar of fire by night, to light for them the way in which they were to go".... Nehemiah 9:19 NASB

Words of prophecy:

_*____One cannot create an "environment of faith" [Love] in the midst of "idol" worship [the fear of man, the seeking after self-glory etc.].

Note: both Ur and Haran were cities consecrated to idol worship - and, thus, it was not until AFTER the death of Terah [Abram's father] and "Abram's" departure from that city [Haran] in faith and obedience that the Lord was able to establish the initial Covenant of Faith with Abraham [Genesis 12:1-3];

...."Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went out together from Ur of the Chaldeans in order to enter the land of Canaan; and they went as far as Haran, and settled there. The days of Terah were two hundred and five years; and Terah died in Haran. Now [then] the LORD said to Abram, 'Go forth from your country, and from your relatives and from your father's house, to the land which I will show you; And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing; And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed".... Genesis 11:31-12:3 NASB

...."By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going".... Hebrews 11:8 NASB

____Environment is everything. The closer one gets to the Father and His Word the more unacceptable the environment of the "world" becomes. One need never apologize for moving to separate themselves [at the leading of the Holy Spirit] from anything [or anyone] that is producing an environment that is clearly not of God.

...."If the world hates you, know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you belonged to the world, the world would treat you with affection and would love you as its own. But because you are not of the world [no longer one with it], but I have chosen [selected] you out of the world, the world hates [detests] you. Remember that I told you, A servant is not greater than his master [is not superior to him]. If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you".... John 15:18-20 The Amplified Translation

...."Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world -the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one's own resources or in the stability of earthly things] - these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself]. And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever".... 1 John 2:15-17 The Amplified Translation

Prayer of Proclamation:

this is so beautiful and such a testimony to the Lord's healing power and sanctification through our suffering. Much of my walk with Christ is similar to yours.
